Title: Max Explains Everything
Author: Stacy McAnulty
Illustrator: Deborah Hocking
This book is an adorable and hilarious story about a boy
named Max who takes the reader on a trip with him through the grocery store. He
gives the reader “helpful tips” about the grocery store and how to tackle the
trip. The illustrations are very cute and realistic, and each page has its own whimsical
text about each section of the store. I think that this book is perfect for
teaching children about what is in a grocery store and includes good vocabulary
that can be used to help teach the reader new words! The comedic aspect of the
book also makes learning about those dreaded trips to the grocery store with
your parents more fun and interesting!
Rating: 5/5
Like I said, this book is fun and educational! I think that
the grocery store vocabulary can lend itself well to the classroom. It would be
perfect to use on a unit about grocery stores!
