Title: Pancakes for Breakfast
Author: Tome DePaola
This wordless picture book would be a great
book to lend itself to teaching about problem and solution. It takes you
through a woman trying to make herself pancakes and what she needs to do when
she does not have some of the ingredients. This book could also lend itself to
teaching about sequence of events because the woman has to go through certain
steps in order to make herself pancakes. The illustrations were descriptive and
helped worked the reader through what was happening in the story.
Rating: 4/5
Although this book can be used to teach various
different literacy skills, it was not the most interesting and it did not hold my
attention the whole time. It began to get a little predictable, but I know that
for a child this can be a good thing so maybe I am being a tad bit critical.
